Give me Prada, Give me Pearls....

So we have moved into our new home, and we love it. We love not living in an apartment, we love not climbing stairs...except the ones to our bedrooms. We love having a back porch and we love having a garage. What we do not love....the very thing I thought I would. The yard. Don't get me wrong, I love having one, it's the whole "taking care of it" bit i'm not so fond of. I mowed the lawn tonight. Yep. Mark it. I mowed the lawn. And you know, that might be the last time I do it. Maybe because after a long day at work, I ran out to get it done before the rain, only to be in the middle of it when it started. Then, to have it run out of gas when I literally had 4 feet left to go. Yep, 4 FEET!!! And my anal self won't let 4 feet stand alone. So I got to get my cute, little gas can, and the damn thing is built for a man. I had to have Maddie come hold the spout so that I could turn the "child proof" cap. It took me 20 minutes to get the cap off!!! For 4 FEET OF GRASS!!!! Only to overfill the tank and have it spill all over the mower. At what point do you say "the hell with it!!"??? So I finish the lawn, put the mower away and finally head in to make dinner. I finish dinner and head out to "clean up" the lawnmowing. Now that's a dirty trick. There is clean up to the clean up!!! As I'm doing said clean up, I notice a few weeds in the beds, so I stop to pull.....and pull, and pull and pull. They never stop!!! And now, my nails are a mess, I can't get the dirt off my hands and my sore legs are not from a nice jog around the neighborhood. So I say, give me Prada and give me Pearls, I'll leave the lawn for landscapers!!

a' la' foot.....

Sometimes, you have had a long day, and sometimes you are tired. Sometimes you don't think the grease in the frying pan will get that hot when you make bacon. And sometimes you are wrong.

I didn't really mean to laugh.....or to grab my camera and take this picture. :) Let's be honest, it would only have done Eric justice to have shown a video of how FAST he threw his leg up into the kitchen sink.....boys are such babies.

MRI, Schmim-r-i.....

6 1/2 Years Ago-First Grand-Baby Boy is born.
(Ahhhh, it does feel good to have a "first"....oh, make that 3 "firsts". :) )
3 months later-Baby Boy, ("T"), decides having a "shark bite" would be SUPER cool!!!
3 Months Later Than That-Mom, Dad and Big T head to CHOA at Egleston for heart surgery that will leave a BEAUTIFUL "shark bite"and the nurses wishing all patients could go home this happy and healthy!!
Fast Forward.......................................2 Weeks Ago...........

I take my baby boy back to CHOA at Egleston and decide that if we never step in those doors as a family again-it will be too soon. Needless to say, a rush of memories (good and bad) slapped me in the face, and I thank God every day that he is with us.

Funny enough, I'll never forget when we brought T home and Papa was sitting there with him trying to convince me that his feet are freezing and purple. Ok, Dad. Sure they are. He's fine. I'll put some socks on him. Dad should have been a Cardiologist as far as i'm concerned, because I don't think it was 2 weeks later that the Dr. tells us, yes, his Aorta is blocked. The blood is not flowing to his lower extremities. This is why his feet are so cold. Great. Could you not mention that to my father, as I, being the "Oh so informed parent of 3" know so much more than my father who has raised 8. Nice.
At any rate, Tanner had his 5 year (hey....5, 6, what's the big dif?)
"envasive" MRI about 2 weeks ago, and all is great. He's still a pain in the bootie,
but he's great. Thought we'd share some pics from our hospital visit. I figured since
I didn't take any from his surgery, this was as good as it was going to get.

I must say, this Dude was tough.

He watched the nurse the entire time she did his IV and didn't budge.

And this just goes to show that CHOA has it all figured out.

Put a TV and a DVD player in EVERY room, and you will have the happiest,

calmest child anyone could ever hope for.

Oh, and having your Lucky Bear doesn't hurt anything either!!

We love you, T!!!
